Who knew there were some similarities between star death and nuclear weapons?

A new study has found that when a white dwarf star explodes as a supernova, it could explode like a nuclear weapon on Earth.

White dwarf stars are usually dead stars. These are faint, faded, Earth-sized planets that are medium-sized. Called the white dwarf. Our sun will one day become a white dwarf, as will more than 90% of the stars in our galaxy.

Previous studies have shown that white dwarf stars will die in a nuclear explosion known as La Supernova. Much is not known about the cause of these explosions, but previous work has shown that a white dwarf can collide with a nearby star. (In contrast, type II supernovae occur when a single star dies and crashes on its own).

Now researchers have come up with a new idea that Ia could be a supernova - which could explode like a white dwarf atomic bomb.
