Hubble Telescope: That tells the story of space

Hubble Telescope is the main focus area over here. Hubble telescope birthday, also we will talk about the Hubble space telescope image taken by the Hubble space telescope.

Hubble Telescope: That tells the story of space

It is difficult to find people who are not fascinated by the strange and impeccable Hubble telescope pictures of the sky. Whether you are interested in astronomy or not, you can't really be fascinated by these fascinating scenes from space.

Today we will talk about the device behind capturing these heartwarming scenes of space with the Hubble space telescope. The name is undoubtedly very familiar to astronomy lovers. The name of this amazing device is 'Hubble Telescope'. These telescopes contain views of planets, satellites, stars, and galaxies.

The Hubble Telescope has seen the birth of stars, seen stars die, captured many distant galaxies, seen comets fall apart, and witnessed many more histories with the Hubble telescope's birthday.

But what is its own history? How was this telescope invented? How does it contain the bizarre Hubble telescope images of distant space? You will be told that story today.

Its foundation was originally laid by the famous scientist Galileo. Many must have heard of Galileo's Spyglass. Although Galileo was not the inventor of Spyglass, his contribution to the improvement and use of its activities is not small.

Simply put, Spyglass is a device that helps to see distant objects up close. In 1610, while Galileo was working with Spyglass, he encountered difficulties trying to capture images of Saturn's ring through a telescope.

As optics improved, so did the imagery of planets and stars. But it has been a problem for a long time. The atmosphere that surrounds our earth was not able to be accurately depicted because of the obstruction of light coming from space.

What was needed to solve this problem was a telescope capable of overcoming the limitations of ground-based telescopes. In 1969, shortly after World War II, astronomer Lyman Spitzer proposed the invention of such a telescope.

However, it took decades for the proposal to garner support from the National Academy of Sciences. In 1989, the company outlined the Space Telescope and directed its construction.

Meanwhile, our well-known organization NASA also started planning for this. However, the company was facing various problems in taking steps in this regard.

Finally, in 1971, George Law, the administrator of the National Academy of Sciences, authorized the Space Telescope team to implement the proposal, and NASA soon lobbied for funding for the effort.

The implementation of this expensive project faced many obstacles in the beginning. Later, the efforts of the European Space Agency and Congress solved many of the problems of the financial crisis.

But the problem did not seem to be leaving behind. In 1986, seven astronauts were killed in a tragic crash of the Space Shuttle Challenger.

Due to this incident, the telescope project was further delayed. This is because the implementation of the telescope project was not possible until the shuttle flight was resumed. Finally, with the invention of the space shuttle, on April 24, 1990, the world's first space telescope was launched.

In any case, the first attempt failed to produce a perfect picture of space. The images captured were blurry due to various defects in the equipment. The main reason behind this was the lens defect.

In 1993, the space shuttle sent a team of seven people on a five-day spacewalk to solve the problem. At this time two more new cameras including Wild Field Planetary-2 were installed.

In December 1993, new images were taken from the Hubble Telescope, which was extremely accurate and astonishing. Since then, the Hubble Telescope has enriched the field of astronomy with various amazing information about the solar system.

Milky way

The Hubble Telescope is different from other ground telescopes for many reasons. The telescope is almost like a school bus in length, and weighs about the equivalent of two elephants!

It is able to rotate above the Earth's atmosphere by overcoming atmospheric barriers. This telescope captures images through a digital camera. These Hubble space telescope images were later transmitted to the earth via radiofrequency.

Edwin Hubble

The Hubble Telescope is actually named after a person. So surely it has been named after someone who left a huge contribution to astronomy?

That's right. It is named after the American astronomer Edwin Hubble. Hubble is said to be the father of modern cosmology. It was once thought that there was no galaxy other than our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

By skillfully observing the nebula in space, Hubble proved this idea wrong. As he showed, space is much wider than we can imagine.

Unfortunately, despite his great contributions to astronomy, he was not nominated for the Nobel Prize. However, the device that contains the various images of space is being pronounced today under the name of Edwin Hubble, this is its great success.

The way Hubble works

The history of the construction of the Hubble Telescope is known. Now the reader must be curious to know, how does this telescope work? Those who panic when they see complex scientific objects have nothing to fear. The basic activities of the telescope will be discussed here.

The Hubble Telescope rotates the Earth once every 96 minutes at a speed of four kilometers/second, which is equivalent to orbiting the United States once every 10 minutes. This telescope is basically powered by solar energy.

During rotation, the mirror of the telescope contains light and transmits this light electrically to various instruments. In this case, the light hits the primary mirror, which intercepts the next mirror and sends the light to other devices through a hole. Each device is used for different tasks.

Machinery

  1. Wild field camera: sees the light of the region of ultraviolet, visible and infrared rays. Assists in the study of Dark Energy, Dark Matter, the birth of stars, galaxies.

2) Cosmic Origin Spectrographs: can detect ultraviolet rays; It can detect different light by behaving like a prism.

3) Advanced Camera for Survey: Can see visible light, helps to observe the relatively previous activities of the solar system.

4) Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph: Can see all three types of light and is helpful in black hole research.

5) Near Infrared Camera and Multi Object Spectrometer: Acts as a heat sensor. Interstellar helps to see objects surrounded by dust.

6) Fine Guidance Center: Basically the distance between the stars and the speed of the star to measure.

The way the picture reaches the earth

This information is collected in the form of radio frequencies through an antenna. The engineers engaged in this work complete the communication with the telescope via satellite and give various instructions.

There are basically two main computers employed for this. One of them conducts instructions and the other collects and transmits information. That is, the activities of this telescope are conducted by huge mechanical coordination and manpower.

In 2009, astronomers visited the Hubble Telescope for the fifth time and installed new equipment and cameras. The telescope is 30 years old by 2020, and it is still capable of capturing impressive images of space.

But NASA is planning to build a more advanced space telescope called 'James Webb'. Whether it will replace the Hubble Telescope remains to be seen. However, the huge contribution of the Hubble Telescope to astronomy, and the fact that it is a milestone in space research, must be acknowledged.
